Learning to count
So tonight we went for a much needed family walk. The walk was about 20 minutes, but sadly my foot started to hurt halfway through. Guess that's why the foot doctor has me laid off of everything (since September)! Anyway, I was pushing Makayla in her stroller when I started to go over her numbers with her. If I said "1" then she would say "2"...I would say "3" then she would say "4"...all the way up to 10. We then flip flopped where she would start with "1" and I would say "2." About 30 minutes after we got home, Barry & I were sitting in the family room watching & listen to Makayla play. She was in the dining room/kitchen talking & jumping at the same time. She was COUNTING!!!! She said 1 (jump), 2 (jump), 3 (jump), 4 (jump), she skips 5, 6 (jump), 7 (jump), 8 (jump), 9 (jump), 10 (jump). I really don't know what age kids know their basic numbers, but we were impressed! I do work A LOT with her on these basic things, but still it was sooooo cute! Then she would say several numbers in Spanish. We are assuming that she picked this up from watching Dora the Explorer and maybe Diego. She said "Uno" "Dos" "Tres" "Cinco" "Ocho". We were SHOCKED!!!!!! We looked at each other and said, "Did she just say what I think she said?" Kids are sponges I guess, and she is obviously learning more than I thought she was! You go, Makayla!!! Love you, baby girl!!!!!! Momma is so very proud of you! :-)
